What the Problem Was

Mr. and Mrs. Scott, in Birmingham, AL, live on a steep hillside and wanted a deck built on top of their plain old backyard. The good news is that the view they had from their backyard was simply stunning. I don’t think you could ask for a better view of the area.

The bad news is that the backyard area was steep, drab and unattractive. Just bare ground really. They wanted a new outdoor area that would look amazing, maximize the space, plus overcome the challenge of the steepness of the hillside.

They reached out to Durante Home Exteriors and requested a complimentary site inspection. We visited with the Scott’s and assessed the space and got to work coming up with a course of action to construct a deck that would fit their needs, taste and budget.

The Solution Durante Home Exteriors Delivered

The goal with this project was to build a large 3-level deck that conquered the hill.  We constructed a large upper deck that could be used for lounging, entertaining, etc. The upper deck then leads down a large set of stairs to a second, middle level deck, which then leads down another set of steps which leads down to the sidewalk area.
